OUR HISTORY

ESI started in 1978 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We began with some small construction contracts to erect tri-fuel boilers in North and South Carolina. With the expertise of a handful of young field and start up engineers hired away from other companies, ESI not only successfully completed the boiler installations but also began to execute additional scopes of work for the facility utilities. Starting with wood-fired boilers, we moved into air quality control systems, then added power generation, material handling, water treatment and other utility auxiliary systems. ESI has grown its portfolio to include the entire utility island.

OUR FUTURE

As we move forward, we want to carry on the momentum of those who grew the company. By becoming an ESOP in 2015, our success is to instill that pride and drive in both current and future employees.

ENGINEERING

Since ESI is predominantly an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) design and construction company, our associates are accustomed to performing design and engineering with a real attention to cost, constructability, maintenance access and long-term operational reliability.

PROCUREMENT

Our projects are typically executed on a firm lump sum, non-escalating price basis. ESI provides the client with a single-source of responsibility for the entire project, including all performance guarantees and equipment warranties.

CONSTRUCTION

Although the majority of ESI’s work is EPC focused, ESI will provide construction management only services for clients that have the need. This is handled by utilizing our same EPC field operations teams and processes.

ESI is proud to be a diverse and well-rounded team. We have associates ranging from some of the world’s largest universities to the smallest technical schools. Our team has members with distinguished military service, and perhaps most importantly, we are made up of associates from various skill, trade and craft backgrounds.
